Junior Field Service Technician - NJ/NYC Metro Area

 

Requirements:

 

  • 2-year vocation/technical degree in and area such as electronics repair, manufacturing or graphic design

       OR

  • 2+ years experience in field repair of electro-mechanical equipment

       OR

  • 2+ years experience operating large-format inkjet printing equipment

  • Valid & clean driver's license as well as reliable transportation is a must.

  • Able to travel up to 75%, often with overnight stays.

  • Must have strong ethics and work as an effective, collaborative team member.

  • Must be able to push/ pull/ lift/ carry 50+ pounds 

 

Job Description:

 

The Junior Field Service Technician's primary focus will be installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining wide format inkjet equipment from Mimaki and Mutoh. These printers are used for Solvent printing, UV Curable Printing and Dye-Sublimation. The idea candidate would be someone with a technical leaning who already operates such equipment in production environment (sign shop, apparel manufacturer, display or graphics manufacturer), however we will consider other candidates based on the strength of their technical training or experience. Prior troubleshooting and repair of large-format inkjet equipment is not required as all training will be provided by American Print Consultants senior techs, or by attending manufacturer technical trainings. An ability to absorb technical knowledge, troubleshoot and a passion for working with complex machinery is a must. Proficiency with Windows Operating systems, including installing and removing programs and drivers is essential.

 

Knowledge of graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, an understanding of basic color theory and experience with RIP software is a big plus, but not a requirement. Knowledge of Sign Shop production and finishing practices is also desirable. The successful candidate will be well organized and able to properly maintain their individual parts inventory as well as all tools and support equipment. Candidate will utilize websites, technical manuals, handbooks and technical publications to keep current with new equipment as well as updates to old equipment. Candidate should possess good multi-tasking skills as they will also be required to field technical support phone calls from our customers.

 

Additionally, we may occasionally require travel to our office/warehouse in Waynesboro, PA office to assist with sample production, machine refurbishment and repairs or testing of new products.

Although some scheduling may be provided by our office manager or partners, the candidate is expected to be self-sufficient and co-ordinate directly with customers to schedule visits. You are also expected to make your own travel arrangements including booking of flights, hotel rooms and rental cars. Exceptional communication skills to provide customer with clear, concise information regarding the status of their equipment. Manage paperwork and reporting of calls and attendance in a timely basis. APC provides employees with generous profit sharing so it is expected that the successful candidate will actively seek out new service customers and report potential sales opportunities with existing customers to management. Trade show support may be required at the 2-3 shows APC attends each year. 

 

Note that this a a field service position and requires about 75% travel
